The companion model to CFMoto’s 650NK naked commuter - the 650MT adventure tourer - has arrived.

Using the same chassis and LAMS-legal (restricted to 41.5kW and 62Nm) 649.3cc liquid-cooled parallel twin engine as the 650NK, the 650MT makes a number of changes to suit touring.

For example, power delivery is less aggressive, the new suspension features more travel, instrumentation has been modified and there are adjustable riding modes to suit different surface conditions. There’s also an adjustable windscreen, LED lighting all round, USB charging port, standard ABS and an 18-litre fuel tank that delivers a claimed 400km range between fills. Other features include Bosch fuel injection, twin 300mm front disc brakes, 17- inch alloy wheels, 213kg weight and 170mm ground clearance.

Carrying capacity seems meagre at 150kg (especially for two-up touring), while seat height is a little on the high side at 840mm, but can be swapped for an optional 820mm low seat. The Shad pannier kit pictured is also an optional extra.

Available in blue or white, the 650MT is normally priced at $7,490, with the pannierequipped version at $7,990, but until 31 July, 2017, CFMoto are offering a $500 introductory discount on both versions. That means the standard 650MT is $6,990 ride away, while the version equipped with the 32-litre Shad panniers is $7,490 rideaway. Both versions are backed by a two-year unlimited kilometre warranty.

“The 650MT gives Australians an exciting, new, affordable option in the growing adventure tourer market,” said CFMoto Director Michael Poynton.

“The CFMoto 650MT is being introduced with a price differential between 30-50 per cent under our competitors and you will be hard pressed to find an adventure tourer with a similar specification offering the same value.”

The 650MT should be in most branches of CFMoto’s 80+ dealer network by the time you read this. Get in touch with your CFMoto dealer for a test ride and further details.
